Stuck for ideas and inspiration? Don’t panic, there are plenty of hacks and tricks for small spaces that you can use to inspire you.

When you are renovating a bathroom, it’s not the size that counts but the way you use the space. Trust me, I’m an award-winning interior designer 🙂

Small Space Bathroom Solution #1: Create Interest

Did you know that one of the very best ways to disguise a small space is to create interest in that space?

A simple and highly effective way to do that is to incorporate an accent wall within your bathroom. This draws the eye to this aspect of the space and not the size and shape of the bathroom.

For an accent wall, specialty paint can look dramatic and fabulous. However, in a small bathroom (or powder room) it’s better to incorporate something bolder. Try a bold print wallpaper or a wood or stone accent wall. The boldness tricks the eye into thinking it’s a bigger space.

Of course, opt for bathroom-friendly surfaces that are washable, water-proof or moisture resistant.

Small Space Bathroom Solution #2: Seek Inspiration

When it comes to bathroom renovations, it’s not always easy to know how to go about it. If you find yourself struggling with a bathroom renovation, it’s important that you take the time to seek the inspiration that you need.

There is plenty of inspiration available, if you take the time to look for it, that is. The best places for inspiration are on home design blogs, in home magazines, and on Pinterest – there’s plenty of inspiration available.

Small Space Bathroom Solution #3: Be Furniture Smart

When it comes to designing a small bathroom, it’s essential that you are smart about the furniture that you put in place.

In a small bathroom, choose a wall hung vanity with wall mounted tap-ware and a wall hung toilet. When you can see the floor under an object the space seems bigger. Also, opt for open shelves not cupboards with doors, as these can close the space in.

Use mirrors to reflect light around and also reflective surfaces, like chrome for tapware. Metal sheets are also great for walls or cupboards as they reflect light.

Small Space Bathroom Solution #4: Invest in Storage

If there’s no room for built-in storage space, typical of a small bathroom, it’s essential to invest in freestanding storage instead. For example,a tiered metal storage shelving unit.

If there’s one thing that makes a small space look even smaller, it’s clutter. That’s why it’s so essential to get your storage right. When you have clutter over the counter tops, the room instantly seems smaller.

Create some Hygge style calm in a small space and deliver your senses a relaxing vibe.
