You are going to think I’m mad, but there was a time I didn’t wear denim. I know, INSANITY! And that was at a time when my Father was on the Board of a Levi’s Jeans manufacturer. DOUBLE INSANITY, right? Well, I have seen the light and now denim is my wardrobe staple…whew..the men in white coats won’t cart me away JUST yet.
In fact, I am wearing my favourite Liverpool Jeans Company denim jacket right now. It even has a Union Jack sewn into the side with words from a Beatles song – ‘Because’ by John Lennon and Paul McCartney.
And why do I mention this? Because it will soon be Jeans for Genes Day on Friday August 7 – that’s this week people. Get your denim OUT! And bring on the ideas…for women AND blokes.
Can you believe that Jeans for Genes Day is now in its 22nd year? I remember when it started (I was very young). Jeans for Genes is a much-loved national day when people all over Australia wear their jeans to raise funds for the Children’s Medical Research Institute (CMRI).
This year, the charity is encouraging Aussies not to just wear jeans, but to go all out and embrace the trend of double and triple denim. Fedoras, shoes, handbags and accessories – the more creative, the better!
Show your support by donning your best denim; I will be – and I’ll be doing it on my radio show on Friday August 7th from 9.00am – 12.00pm. You can share your denim looks on your social media by using the hashtag #JeansforGenesAU. Remember to tag the appropriate accounts below.
