I came across the Gaudi Submarine Bathroom…and my dreams were shattered. Why?

Because I had been thinking about dabbling in some mosaic work. I found an old telephone table at a garage sale and I thought I’d smash up old colourful plates and have a play. THEN I saw THIS! Someone is VERY good at mosaic tiling and they are definitely not playing around.

Photographed by Anthony Lindsey Photography, this Gaudi submarine bathroom in a house in San Francisco CA is an underwater wonderland. I lost count of the different colours in this bathroom and have spent more time than is healthy working out what I can see in this astounding mosaic mural.

Even the towels have been specifically dyed to suit the mood and colours of this Gaudi submarine bathroom. From octopi, tropical fish and reef plants to jellyfish, sea horses and even a skull; you could spend some time with the kids seeing who can spot the most. I think if I had a bathroom like this I wouldn’t leave it; I’d just soak in the big tub all day being amazed at the intricate, detailed and colourful work that is simply STUNNING!

When you think about a submarine bathroom you definitely don’t think of anything like this. Do you? Even the curved, organic lines, porthole window and copper periscope all add to the fantastic vibe in THIS submarine bathroom.

Is this a bathroom you could spend time in? What feature do you like best? Have you tried mosaic tiling before? If so, you’ll appreciate what an enormous undertaking this Gaudi submarine bathroom was.
