Experimenting with clothing is something that many find difficult, however it may help you to dress more confidently. Confidence with your look goes a long way to overall confidence… and happiness.

You’re putting yourself in a new light, and others aren’t always going to expect to see you that way – and it can look particularly surprising when you see yourself that way. With that said, surprising isn’t always a bad thing, and you might learn to love different styles that you’ve never tried before.

The main thing that tends to hold people back is confidence. It’s easy to feel confident in what you’re used to, as applies to everything, not just clothing – but it’s important that you’re not just trying to stick to what you know.

Try new things more often

Something that will help you to break out of your comfort zone is more frequently trying out new things that you’re not particularly used to. It’s time to stop relying on the comfy sneakers that you’re used to wearing, why not treat yourself to some designer women’s shoes? Wear something you’ve never worn before. Is there a look you’ve always been curious about?

Now’s the time to give it a go. You shouldn’t let what others might think to stop you from being yourself, and it’s important that you get used to trying new things, as it’s going to help you gain more confidence in what you wear as a whole.

Don’t rely on others for trends

You don’t have to stick to what everyone else is wearing. Sure, fashion trends exist, and there’s a reason behind them, but if they’re not for you – they’re not for you. It’s no use trying to fit in with what’s popular if you don’t enjoy it, as it will have a negative impact on your confidence in the long run. Don’t be afraid to go against the grain, be alternative, and be who you want to be. Sometimes you have to fake your confidence before you can feel it, and that means taking action now.

That’s not to say that you shouldn’t try fashion trends. If you can pull off the current trend and enjoy that style, then you should absolutely give it a try for yourself. In fact, it’s a great way to try out new clothes and expand your horizons, as you know what you’re wearing is popular already. You don’t have to worry about attracting negative attention, and you can gain confidence in experimentation that way.

Throw out what you don’t like

If you’re going to dress more confidently, you should get rid of the clothes that make you feel insecure, bad about yourself, or just overall aren’t a nice experience when you’re wearing them. Not only does wearing them make you feel bad, but you’re going to be reminded of it every time you look through your wardrobe.

You should make some space for the clothes you actually want and enjoy wearing. If something doesn’t flatter you, there’s no point in holding onto it. Just accept that it’s not for you, and get rid of it before it makes you feel any worse.
