Zuster Embellish will be launched at DENFAIR this month by an innovative Australian furniture design house headed by sisters Wilhelmina McCarroll and Fleur Sibbel.
Zuster, which means ‘sisters’ in the Dutch language, has developed a reputation for artistic and architectural pieces. Hot on the heels of last years Jewell Collection, the Zuster Embellish range captures the essence of luxury hotel living. Dark and moody, elegant and detailed, there is a couture-like quality to the range that references luxury hotels and formal yet edgy decor.
Designer/Director Wilhelmina McCarroll says the Zuster Embellish collection is a move away from the companies purely minimalist design language to embrace the elegant refinement and fine detailing of an embellished life.
She says, “I’ve tempered dark, moody simplicity with lightly embellished touches of gold, textured quilting, and smooth-flowing organic lines”
As an Interior Decorator, I was immediately drawn to the high-fashion pared back elegance of the Zuster Embellish collection. It’s a very un-fussy and well-edited collection with block colour supple leathers in lustrous black and caramel. Embellishments are in the form of fine details such as handles and trims.

Embellishments are in the form of fine details such as handles and trims. As if each is a piece of art, the Zuster Embellish collection includes hand carved stone or glass blown door handles and gleaming brass studded trims. The collection is a feast for the senses.
The high-backed Banquet Seat boasts black diamond stitching which enhances its inherent grandeur. Its metallic feet lighten the mood and play off against the brass stud edging of the black American Oak side Lamp Table. The Grand Buffet, also in American Oak, features glass blown handles that glimmer with 24 carat gold flakes. The Tall Bar Cabinet has hand-carved stone handles in rich hues of jade green, burnt orange or cerulean blue.

Bespoke and hand-crafted by expert cabinet and furniture makers, each piece is able to be customized for each client. From sizing to fit specific spatial requirements to American Oak finishes, Zuster works with clients to produce ‘Made For You’ furniture in a short eight-week timeframe. Clients also pick their desired choice of embellishments including hand-blown glass and stone handles in varying finishes and studding in metallic and matte tones.
