I recently went on a South Pacific cruise and it was one of the most wonderful holidays I have ever experienced. I hadn’t ‘cruised’ before so wasn’t sure what to expect; and I was not disappointed. The most compelling positive was having everything in one place, on board – entertainment, fabulous food, wonderful wines, views, fascinating people, leisure activities, even an Art Gallery – and not having to travel long distances for any of it.

 Five Must-Have Travel Essentials

It got me thinking about other holiday options and what I would and would not need if I chose different destinations. Of course, that led to thinking about a definitive list of the five must-have travel essentials. Could I encapsulate essentials into a list of just five? Well, I did. It might not be everyone’s ideal list, but I reckon this is pretty close; so, The Five Must-Have Travel Essentials that will take you anywhere.

#A Secure Suitcase

Have you ever looked out an airplane window and seen how some baggage handlers toss luggage around? Not only that, you don’t want someone whipping yours off the carousel for a closer inspection. I always travel with Samsonite luggage because I want my valuables to arrive in one piece; un-violated.

I also love all the locking options, extra pockets and secure areas where you can store a laptop, camera and wet items like shampoo and soap. PLUS they are super stylish for the fashion conscious traveller. For more Samsonite styles see bagstogo.com.au

#A Chic Passport / Document Holder

Just because a passport look official doesn’t mean your passport & document holder should. I use my SheLion Everyday Pouch as a passport holder because it’s chic and stylish. It also comes with a removable coin purse and 12 distinctive slots for additional cards. The wristlet means I can keep it safely on my arm and the internal zipped compartment stops valuable papers falling out.

#A Selfie Stick

Get the view AND you, with a selfie stick. Ok, yes you need a decent camera but a selfie stick will give you greater options for picture variety. I NEVER thought I’d be condoning the use of selfie sticks, but… let’s face it…they can be pretty useful.

 Five Must-Have Travel Essentials

#A Great Moisturiser

A great moisturizer pips at the post a great sunscreen. Why? Because you can always avoid the sun – sit under a tree, use an umbrella, wear a hat – but you can’t avoid dry skin from airplane cabin pressure, air-conditioning or the weather.

I prefer a rich moisturizer because my skin just soaks it up. However I have found the ‘Elegant Eliza’ range from Glamourflage provides the perfect combination of richness that doesn’t sit on the skin. The Honey Repairlift Lotion is great on it’s own or under the Honey Repairlift Day Cream. Whatever your skin type, pack your fave moisturizer because I guarantee you it’s a must-have travel essential.

#An Eye Mask

Block out the light and rest your peepers. I am addicted to my padded satin eye-mask because it’s chic enough to wear in public, like on an airplane. If you have to take a quick nap or adjust to different time zones, a block-out Eye Mask is definutely on my list of five must-have travel essentials. Choose one that is lavender infused or carry a small bottle of lavender essential oil and place a few drops on the mask or on your pillow.

 Five Must-Have Travel Essentials

You will awaken refreshed and your eyes will thank you; they will be revitalized to take in all the glorious views of your holiday.

So, happy holidaying; and remember – Fill your life with experiences not things. Have stories to tell, not stuff to show.
