When there’s a Fashion Week in town all eyes are as much on the street as the runways. In NYFW 2016 black and white street style abounded. Fashion bloggers were at pains to out-style regular New Yorkers who make the streets their own. Everything was on show – leather, sleeveless, asymmetrical, skinny leg, wide leg, flats, heels, studs…
Some people think out their outfits to match their bestie (below). I love the black and white street style stripes with leopard print – I’ve never met a leopard print shoe I didn’t love. And fringing is still VERY big, looking fabulously chic next to the stripes too. Love the gold wedges.
I’ll be posting a feature on some of the more colourful fashions on show but have picked out 15 black and white street style looks I love. You’ll note lots of variety but pants, skirts, sleeves and sheers rule.
Footwear is as eclectic as the clothing with ‘athleisure’ making a serious debut. Seems ‘sneakers’ add chic comfort to the tootsies of fashionistas making a statement. I do love a pointy toe so was pleased to see these are still alive and kicking on the streets of the Big Apple Black and white street style wouldn’t be complete without them.
Look.. OK.. yes.. I am a shoe fiend and in addition to leopard print and pointed toes, I am an absolute sucker for booties – I have more pairs of ankle boots than other single style of shoe. Open-toe and enclosed booties are on my hit lits; so pleased to see them as part of black and white street style at New York Fashion Week 2016
Sleeves are making a comeback this season, and by that I mean ‘statement’ sleeves. When the rest of your outfit is relatively simple, a knockout sleeve will elevate the look out of the ballpark.
Plus, it IS black and white street style at New York Fashion Week 2016 so I’ll throw in some honorable mentions.
